Our college football roundtables continue as we move on to the Big Ten conference and find out what to expect up North. Joining us in this series of roundtables we have Ross from Black Heart Gold Pants, Andrew from Madtown Badgers and Mike from The Little Brother Blog. So we've got Iowa, Michigan State and Wisconsin opinions coming at your grill this week.

It's time for part three of our Big East college football roundtable. On Saturday we discussed the two teams with new coaches (Rutgers and Pitt), on Monday we talked about who could take the mantle as the top team in the league and on Tuesday we talked about which players we are most excited to watch in 2012. Now it's time to break out our bonus question and leap forward to 2013. Joining us in our Big East discussion is our usual band of Zealots (including myself, Ross and Pete- who also writes for Big East Coast Bias) and Ken DeCelles from the USF Based Blog Voodoo Five.

QUESTION: Outside of Boise State, which team are you most excited about joining the Big East in 2013?

I thought that the longer Arkansas waited to pull the trigger on Bobby Petrino, the more likely it was that he would stay coach. Well, Joe Schad broke the news on Twitter that Petrino is out.

The question now is who do the Hogs turn to? Obviously, this is not a primetime to go looking for coaches as spring practice is still going on at many places. Last year, Ohio State and UNC both went with internal candidates after they had to fire their coaches but that was closer to the season starting.

Joe Schad also suggests that Arkansas players are making recommendations:

In a Press Conference on Tuesday night, a shaken Director of Athletics Jeff Long announced that Taver Johnson would continue as interim coach through the completion of spring practice (April 21st). Long said that he will being a coaching search immediately but didn't know if he would have a new coach in place by 2012 based on who they can attract at this point in the pre-season. Here are some candidates for him to think about....

Bobby-Petrino

Over the past week pretty much everybody that writes for a college football site has written about Bobby Petrino and given their take on his situation. I've held off to kind of see where the situation went and because I have some biases when it comes to Petrino. I'm an Atlanta Falcons fan so I understand that when Petrino's mouth is moving it means that he is lying. I've called out Petrino before and in return I've received some nice hate mail from the Razorbacks faithful. The purpose of this column isn't to rip on Petrino (although I did get one in already) as pretty much everybody has already done that for me.

The longer the Arkansas brass draws this out the better the chances that Petrino stays with Arkansas. If Arkansas was really interested in getting rid of Petrino, he would already be gone. They would have had swift justice and he would be looking for another gig. As it stands right now, Petrino is suspended "with pay." Must be nice, how do I get to take some time off and still get paid for it?

It's time for part two of our Big East college football roundtable. On Saturday, we discussed the two teams with new coaches (Rutgers and Pitt). Now it's time to talk about who might step up now that West Virginia has moved on to the Big 12. Joining us in our Big East discussion is our usual band of merry Zealots (including myself, Ross and Pete- who also writes for Big East Coast Bias) and Ken DeCelles from the USF Based Blog Voodoo Five.

Georgia-State-Football1

It was just two months ago that we wrote about Georgia State testing the waters for a move up to the FBS. Now it is being reported that Georgia State will have a news conference on Monday at 2 pm at the Georgia Dome to accept an invitation to the Sun Belt Conference for all sports. Georgia State will make the jump in 2013 but will not become a full member of the Sun Belt until the 2014 season.

Now that we've spent some time discussing the ACC and the Big 12 it's time to turn our attention to the Big East. The Big East struggled this past season just to keep itself afloat last year. This year will be a transition year for the Big East as Pitt and Syracuse play out their schedule and the Big East awaits reinforcements in 2013. Joining us in our Big East discussion is our usual band of merry Zealots (including myself, Ross and Pete- who also writes for Big East Coast Bias) and Ken DeCelles from the USF Based Blog Voodoo Five.

Last week we took a look at the sophomores in the SEC West that need to step up this year to help their team be successful. Now it's time to turn our attention to the SEC...

DamianSwannUGA-245x300Swann will get his shot for Georgia this year

Florida- Jacoby Brissett or Jeff Driskel (QB): I already touched on this QB battle during one of our roundtables. It's so important to not only this season for Florida but also to Will Muschamp's long term health that I will bring it up again. One of these two youngsters is going to have to step up and take the helm of the Florida offense for them to see any type of turnaround this season. Florida's offensive weapons (Jeff Demps and Chris Rainey) have run out of eligibility and it's up to one of these guys to kick start their offense in the post-John Brantley Gator world.
